The temporary rehabilitation centre that was built in Semera city of Afar region has been renovated and inaugurated today with the presence of higher government officials. The ministry of women and social affairs, the minister of women and children sector, Mrs. Alemitu Umed stated that the government is working to solve the crisis that is happening in the country. Non-profit organisations, individuals and investors, have said that it is appropriate to work together to solve this issue.

The minister also said that this is a rehabilitation centre for people that have been displaced by the war.
During the launch, Mrs. Aisha Yasin, the head of the regional office for women and social affairs, said that the centre has been a place for brothers and sisters from Tigray and it has not been able to provide services as planned. However, with the support of the Minister of Women and Social Affairs, it has been renovated to be able to serve. By thanking the ministry office, partners have called for the continued work of supporting the centre.

rehabilitation centreDuring the discussion, a survey was presented on the overall damage caused by the war. The research also included the work done to support the women affected by the conflict, the challenges faced and the support needed to solve the problems in the future.
The centre should have a strong cooperation and a joint plan that can play a role in coordinating the work by completing the unfulfilled materials and strengthening the needs of the centre. A technical committee was formed and coordinated with partners working on the prevention and response of violence against women. A plan should be prepared according to the Comparative Advantage of their organisation, support the government’s high role, support and service delivery system should be expanded, work in harmony repeatedly and ready to support.
Mrs. Alemitu Ahmed pointed out that the damage that has been done and all partners need to work together and fulfil their duties as a citizen is more important than ever. Along with the launch, tree planting and visiting ceremony took place.
