The speaker of the house of representatives of the FDRE, Tagese Chafo, has expressed his opinion that “Democratic institutions should stand together to overcome the challenges facing the country at this challenging time”.
The honourable speaker of the house stated this in his speech when he officially opened the annual discussion forum of democratic institutions that are called for the congress in Bishoftu city.
These democratic institutions, as the honourable speaker said, should strengthen their work, build sustainable and transitional institutions, and work together to solve the current national challenges.
Aklewum said that we Ethiopians should stand together in this challenging time to get out of the problems that are happening in different parts of the country.
“In the last few years, inhumane acts are being committed on citizens, both Ethiopian culture and faith have been disrupted.” In order to overcome these and similar challenges, we have to work together” said the honourable speaker.
Above all else, the peace and security of the citizens should be protected in a reliable way.
For this reason, the honourable speaker of the parliament emphasised that democratic institutions should update their work by following law reforms, building manpower and technology supported processes.
Democratic institutions that will be held by the council will discuss their achievements and challenges in the implementation of the fiscal year plan.
Similarly, every democratic institution will be provided the support it needs from the congress. In the same way, it is expected that they will discuss and reach an agreement on the issues the congress expects from them.
In addition, in the two days they will have, apart from their relationship with the council, they will also discuss with us on terms of building a strong relationship with each other.
