The Amhara Fano Wollo Kelasta Asamenew Kor has issued a statement calling on all stakeholders to join the struggle for survival. This message underscores the importance of unity and collective action in facing the challenges posed by an oppressive regime. The statement has a profound spiritual significance, underlining the need for unity and perseverance in the face of adversity. This call is made on the occasion of the birthday of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the righteous King Saint Lalibela. The statement carries profound spiritual significance, emphasising the need for unity and perseverance in the face of adversity.
The Significance of Jesus Christ’s Birth
The birth of Jesus Christ is widely regarded as the commencement of the Good News (Gospel), signifying the inception of hope. The concept of Jesus Christ as the Word of God becoming incarnate to assume the poverty of the entire world is a fundamental tenet of the Christian faith. The birth of Jesus Christ was a momentous event that fulfilled prophetic scripture, brought joy to the shepherds who witnessed it, and united angels and humans in a collective expression of praise. By his birth, Jesus Christ liberated humankind from the clutches of the devil and illuminated the path for all those dwelling in the shadow of death.
The Ongoing Struggle Against Oppression
Despite the liberation of humankind from the dominion of the dark ruler as outlined by Emmanuel, representatives of the dark ruler continue to impose the yoke of apartheid on us in our earthly lives. The figure of Jesus Christ served as a beacon of hope for his generation, mobilising his followers to challenge the oppressive regime they faced.
This ongoing struggle continues to serve as a significant source of inspiration for the Amhara people and the broader populace of our nation.
Celebrating in the Face of Adversity
The regions under the control of Asamenew Kor are recognised as locales where the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, is commemorated with profound enthusiasm. However, the oppressive regime has repeatedly launched attacks in these areas, attempting to disrupt the celebrations. Despite these challenges, the forces of Asamenew Kor have exercised restraint, thereby ensuring that the festival unfolds peacefully and with dignity.
Attacks and Counterattacks
The oppressive and plundering army of the regime, armed with heavy weaponry, has repeatedly launched attacks in the areas of Kulmesek, Debko, and Gelosot. However, the forces of Asmaneu have successfully counterattacked, thereby vanquishing the regime’s forces. Notwithstanding their triumph, the regime’s forces have exhibited a degree of ruthlessness, perpetrating acts of violence against innocent civilians, looting public wealth and property, and setting fire to the rest. Thereafter, they have withdrawn to the city of Lalibela, which they have transformed into a refuge.
Commitment to Peace
Notwithstanding the military aggression and incitement of hostilities by the regime, the forces of Asmaneu have exercised restraint, refraining from transforming the significant festival and the hallowed site into a theatre of war. The regime’s actions are recognised as part of a broader conspiracy to harm innocent individuals across various global regions and to tarnish the sanctity of the site. In response, the armed forces have adopted a policy of non-retaliation, successfully identifying and thwarting the enemy’s conspiratorial machinations. This has been undertaken with the objective of safeguarding the well-being of international guests who have converged upon the festival and the worship service.
Ensuring a Peaceful Experience
concerted efforts are being made to ensure that visitors to the festival sites of Bilbala Giorgis, Bilbala Kirkos, St. Yimrhane Christos, Sarzna Mikael, Kenkenit Mikael, and Gente Mariam, in collaboration with the local populace, have an entirely peaceful and enjoyable experience. The commitment to peace and spiritual harmony remains steadfast, ensuring the festival unfolds with the dignity befitting the sacred site.
Despite facing considerable challenges, including an oppressive regime, the Amhara Fano Wollo Kelasta Asamenew Kor remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that the celebrations of the birth of Jesus Christ and Saint Lalibela are conducted in peace and spiritual harmony. The commitment to non-retaliation and the safeguarding of the well-being of international guests underscores the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the festival and the hallowed site.
Progress in the Struggle for Survival
The present undertaking seeks to bring the struggle for survival to a swift conclusion. Encouraging progress has been made, but it is imperative to transform the massacres, abuses, and war-related disorders perpetrated by the regime, particularly against women, children, and the elderly, into a thing of the past. It is vital for all stakeholders, including Fano and civil society, to engage and demonstrate their commitment to this struggle.
Appeal to Senior Leaders of the Fano Organisation
An appeal is made to the senior leaders of the Fano organisation in the four provinces. The birth of Jesus Christ, as described in the Holy Bible, was a momentous occasion. The central tenet of the Christian faith is that Jesus came to earth to make a sacrifice, thereby uniting divinity and flesh. His birth is widely regarded as the commencement of the final phase of the earthly existence of suffering. The senior leaders of the Fano organisation are acutely aware of the profound responsibility entrusted to them in establishing an Amharic organisation that will mark the conclusion of the sacrificial era for the people and ensure enduring security. They appeal to all for accelerated support in fostering unity.
Unity must be pursued earnestly through collective endeavours motivated by authentic concern for the welfare of the people, and characterised by unwavering determination. In order to expedite the process of bringing about a swift conclusion to the period of suffering, it is incumbent upon all to demonstrate sincerity in their pursuit of unity. The necessity for humility, trust, cooperation, goal-setting, and problem-solving in unison is paramount to achieve the desired struggle and secure victory for the people.
Appeal to the Amhara People and Supporters of the Fano Struggle
It is imperative to acknowledge that change is the result of collective participation and effort. While Fano is the primary proponent of this struggle, it is crucial to recognise that each Amhara supporter, irrespective of their geographical location, is a co-owner of this struggle. All Ethiopians, both within the nation’s borders and across the globe, who acknowledge and endorse Fano’s struggle, are collectively its proprietors.
Collective Participation and Effort
This transformation is the consequence of collective participation and concerted effort. While Fano is the primary proponent of this struggle, it is important to note that each Amhara supporter, irrespective of their geographical location, is a co-owner of this struggle. All Ethiopians who acknowledge and endorse Fano’s struggle are collectively its proprietors. The imperative is to construct a unified Amharic entity, one that does not merely mirror the creations and affiliations of specific factions.
The present analysis puts forward the proposition that all stakeholders in the struggle must play their part in the struggle to create an Amharic entity based on struggle ownership.
This necessitates a departure from the prevailing pessimistic perspective that unity is unattainable, and the adoption of a stance that does not advocate for unity as a prerequisite for cohesion. This standpoint is predicated on the recognition that the prevailing pessimistic perspective has been a contributing factor to the significant setbacks experienced by the opposition in the nation’s historical context. It is therefore imperative to establish a unified Amharic entity that does not merely mirror the creations and affiliations of specific factions. In this regard, an invitation is hereby extended to all stakeholders in our collective endeavour to assume the role of guardians of the struggle. This struggle is defined by its ability to highlight deficiencies, censure those who seek to undermine it, unite those who are progressive and honest, and foster collaboration.
The collective strength of this alliance will determine the longevity of the regime. The cornerstone of this strength is unity. The capacity of Wollo to act independently is negligible. The incorporation of Gojjam serves to strengthen the union, while Shewa is regarded as unbreakable when included, and the addition of Gondar ensures our unity is akin to that of a lion. Unity, therefore, is the key to victory, as General Asaminew Tsige, asserted: “Be united.” The Amhara call to unity is encapsulated in the phrase “Be united.” The Kora extends its felicitations to all those who celebrate this holiday, hoping that this day is filled with love, unity, and compassion.
The prevailing sentiment is that this spirit transcends and permeates all aspects of life, instilling joy, solidarity, and empathy.
