President Sahle-Work Zewde spoke with civil service organizations focusing on gender issues on the various challenges that they face as well as the potential solutions. The event, which marked the end of Women’s Month, was attended by various CSOs as well as other stakeholders.
The President emphasized that although the government is the primary driver of development, the role of CSOs is crucial in supporting those initiatives.

Coordination of Gender issues
It is to be recalled that President Sahle-Work had convened a similar meeting two years ago to discuss possible ways that CSOs can coordinate their efforts with one another and the significance of that connection in achieving national development goals.
At the conclusion of this meeting, a taskforce was established to lead efforts in this regard. Preparations have also begun to set up a national organization which can own and coordinate women’s issues.
