A practical training on how to plant and use of animal feed is being given to farmers.
The shortage of animal feed manure is causing a high price fluctuations on the contributions of animals for food. In order to solve the problem, animal feed manure should be developed alongside other crop products. The training is being given on how to plant animal feed manure and how to use it.
The Agriculture minister Mr. Alemu Wolde confirmed that the training has started for the first round in the selected five regions of Oromia, Amhara, South, Sidama and South West Ethiopia in sixty districts.
What makes the training different is that it is given to the selected model farmers and farmers who have already taken training at the federal level. And the model farmers who participated in the training also train other farmers in the same way.
Research shows that the animal feed species selected for the training can produce a high production in a small area, and have improved their content in nutmeg, are reasonable and can cause high quality milk and meat quickly. They can be planted in the yard, around fences and as a nest.
Farmers in Sidama region Dara district and Kenbata district, stated that their use of animal feed manure is producing better milk and meat products and it is also a source of income by selling the animal feed products. This kind of training that is given directly to farmers and farmers should be continued.
