This is the Dangiya primary school found in the rural town called Merkta in Awi, Banja woreda that was built by the Swedish government in 1957 E.D. Even after years, the society has grown its awareness to teach its children and with the participation of the community, it has been able to prepare its classrooms made out of mud.
Dangiya primary school has produced successful students for many years, and former students of this school are working in different professions in the country and abroad.

The windows, doors, walls, floor and ceiling are a falling apart and are a health and safety hazard.

But they say the school history and the current situation are not related. The farmers who say that the school has become a threat to the students because of the collapse of the school have expressed their willingness to save the school willingly and by force. Banja Woreda General Administrator Mr. Mola Wele has 54 primary schools in Woreda. He said that there are works that have been started to improve the status of 8 schools by owning the community. Mr. Mola said that Dangiya is the first primary school in the district. The administrator who pointed out that he has produced many scholars in his 58 years has stated that the school is collapsing and children are learning in danger.
