The Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is under state terror from the Abiy Ahmed brutal regime. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has always been a symbol of freedom, Unity and spirituality for the majority of Ethiopians. Today, the politically bankrupt and brutal regime of Dictator Abiy Ahmed, is using divide and rule through Ethnicity, propaganda and brutality. That’s why after dividing the church using tribalism and ethnicity, his now brutalising and murdering Christians in churches as was the case at Welte Maedote Yordanos St. John Church, Shashamane Debresebhat Saint Michael, etc. The chronic brutality of dictator Abiy Ahmed keeps getting worse everyday.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is today under siege by a brutal regime that loves shading the blood of innocent people.
The Ethiopian church is not the property or a killing field for Dictator Abiy Ahmed and his gang of criminals. The Ethiopian people will not standby and keep quite while the church is being humiliated and its honour and dignity abused by a ruthless and politically bankrupt dictator. Dictator Abiy Ahmed and his gang of sycophants have violated the sacred law by humiliating and raping the church.
No amount of intimidation will stop us from defending our religion. We shall continue to wear black and cry out loud in full sadness to our God in all corners of Ethiopian and the world. We shall always remember the 200 priests and servants, and children of our church that have been martyred for their religion. We also pray for victims of state brutality undergoing treatment. And at the same time very saddened by the death, imprisonment and suffering that is happening to Christians in Ethiopia.
